Verification at the source
The truth hidden between the lines of announcements
Official notes from ministries or parties are usually 84.3% PR and only 15% concrete facts. We see this every day in our work at Wiejska Backstage. When a spokesperson talks about a major reform, we check who actually benefits from a new comma in the law. Our team consists of 5 people who have been regularly visiting the building on Wiejska since 2019. We don't wait for ready-made texts from news agencies, because they reach everyone at the same time and rarely tell the whole truth.
The 83 backstage conversations method
Over the last 4 months, we conducted 83 backstage conversations that changed our assessment of three key economic laws. Our method is simple and rigorous. Instead of running with a microphone after MPs in front of cameras, we prefer to call assistants and lower-level officials. They are the ones who physically enter amendments into the systems and know why a certain provision suddenly disappeared from the project. That's how we learned about changes in transport regulations 4 days before they hit the headlines of news portals.
We checked it at the source for 47 recipients
Currently, we provide reports for 47 regular clients who need knowledge, not political bickering. These are mainly medium-sized business owners for whom specific personnel decisions in offices can make life easier or harder. To be honest, we don't always get answers right away. Sometimes verifying one rumor about a resignation takes us 11 business days. But at Wiejska Backstage, we prefer to publish a text later than provide unverified information that would expose someone to a business error.
Hard facts instead of backstage rumors
Each analysis passes through the hands of two editors who check dates, amounts, and family ties of the people described. In September 2024, we were the first to point out 3 people tipped for the board of one of the agricultural agencies. Our predictions proved correct in 2 out of 3 cases, which is a very good result in this industry. We don't play at fortune-telling; we analyze backstage arrangements based on hard data and conversations with people whose names rarely appear in newspapers.
Concrete results of our work
Our work is not just writing; it is primarily listening. In October 2024, one of our short reports on planned changes in local taxes allowed an entrepreneur from Poznań to avoid an unnecessary investment, saving him approximately 7,400 PLN per quarter. Without the fluff and without unnecessary theory – we focus on what really happens in the offices when the studio lights go out. This is exactly how we understand reliable information verification at the source itself.
